December 2006

Alba EDC PR 12-23-06:  In the regular December meeting of the Alba Economic Development Corporation, the Board members continued discussing concerns regarding the administrators to oversee and inspect future building where permits will be required. There have been several solutions offered and the Board is scrutinizing them to determine which directions would best serve the city.  Once the suggestions and options are finalized they will be presented to the Alba City Council for their final decision and approval.

Economic Development Board member and Vice President Orvin Carroll, who is also Mayor of the City of Alba, reported that the City Council is supportive of the EDC. In the last City Council meeting Dan Boutwell of Management R……….Group spoke before the Council with a report of the progress to date of the comprehensive plan for the area within the city limits and the extra territorial jurisdiction. Council members had questions regarding the plan and all were addressed by Boutwell to the satisfaction of the Council.

The Comprehensive Plan for land use was reviewed in detail by the Economic Development Corporation at the last meeting, and decisions on revisions were made. The Board members are awaiting typos corrected in the draft, as well as these revisions. Once these have been made, a town hall meeting will be held for citizens and interested parties. At that meeting, all issues to future planning and zoning will be addressed and the attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions with regard to the plan.

Members of the Alba Economic Development Corporation in addition to Carroll are John Ballard President, Karyn Margos Secretary/Treasurer, Don Alexander employee City of Alba, Judy Griggs, Don McKenzie, and Jill Russell who serves as public relations/press release member.
