TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD APPROVES
$1,130,000 LOAN TO THE CITY OF ALBA
FOR WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS

AUSTIN (February 27, 2007) The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance to the City of Alba (City) in the amount of $1,130,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Disadvantaged Community Program to finance improvements to its existing water system, utilizing the pre-design commitment option.
The City will use the loan funds to install a new well, replace old 2-inch lines, transfer services from existing 2-inch lines to existing 6-inch lines and install new valves to allow isolation of lines. The project will provide improved water distribution and production capacity.
The City is located in northeast Texas at the intersections of US Highway 69 and State Highways 17 and 182, near Mineola. With an estimated population of 430, the City provides service to approximately 330 water customers and 248 sewer customers.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the states water resources, and administering cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control and agricultural water conservation projects.
